RNS Tal Handaq - Horse play in the Music Room
This classroom (64) was used as the music room during the late
50's. I remember there being an old piano at the far end from
the door. I understand that the room is now being used as a
Language Lab by Liceo Vassalli.

During one of my first year music lessons I remember noticing a
torn leather cushion/panel(?) stuffed with horsehair leaning
against the wall next to where I was sitting. To amuse my
friends I pushed great wads of horse hair up the arms of my
shirt to look like underarm hair. They thought it was a great
joke and of course laughed far too loudly - which to my horror
was spotted by the music teacher (a very sweet woman as I
recall - only wish I could remember her name).

Anyway, managing to keep a stern face she called me up to the
front and made me stand facing the class "so we could all enjoy
whatever it was that was causing so much mirth at the back of
her class". I remember standing up there in front of a class of
giggling boys and girls - horse hair sticking out of my sleeves -
trying to brave it out and feeling my eleven year old cheeks
burning red with the embarrassment of it all.

There was no other punishment - no lines or detention - there
was no need!

Can just imagine the roars of laughter in the staff room.....
